The weather looks favourable this Saturday for an event that puts the fun into fundraising for the Big Hill Haven women's shelter.

It's the second annual Cruz4Her, and it's an opportunity to celebrate your wheels while helping women and children in the Cochrane area who are victims of domestic violence.

Vehicles start lining up at title sponsor Cochrane GM, 2 Westside Dr., at 11 a.m. and head out at 12:30 p.m. for a scenic cruise to the mountains. It's scheduled to wrap up by 5 p.m.

Tara McFadden, fund development and public relations officer for the organization, says the goal is to raise $15,000 while having a bit of fun.

"It's a way to get out, and celebrate your wheels, enjoy cruising through the Rockies, and an opportunity to make a difference for a really important organization in Cochrane."

"Every donation really makes a difference in how we can continue to provide the support to our clients who are either living with or looking to leave domestic violence situations and to make sure we have those supports for them, including some housing supports."

Registration is by donation, and they're challenging people to fundraise and get their cruise sponsored. Those who want to show support but can't participate can lend a hand by donating.

Last year, $7,000 was raised, and a target of $15,000 has been set for the sophomore cruise.

Currently, the weather forecast is sunny conditions and an afternoon high of 17 degrees, pretty good cruising weather for late August.
