The Cochrane Public Library is pleased to present, Meet the Author-Sarah Salter-Kelly on Tuesday, September 14.

Author Sarah Salter-Kelly is very pleased to announce the launch of her new book, “Trauma as Medicine” which can be described as a DIY book for healing from trauma.

Salter-Kelly says the book “Encourages people to have a leap of faith, to begin with, because often the question that can come forth when we are faced with the experience of our own trauma, how can anything good actually come from this experience.”

Sarah will provide an intimate evening of talking about the book and sharing her own personal journey of trauma and healing.

Salter-Kelly explains, “What I’m doing in the book, is I am actually sharing the story of her mother’s homicide and using that as a template by guiding people through some of the elements that showed up in me in my own healing journey.”

Sarah has spent years training in spiritual healing and personal growth, and she also shares in the book, “Some of the resources that I accessed through alternative healing throughout the years that I found to be instrumental in supporting such a concept as trauma as medicine. As well, as in teaching personal growth and healing workshops over the years.”

Salter-Kelly takes the healing in the book beyond the personal to seeking an understanding of her mother’s murderer and in that journey gains empathy for First Nations people and knowledge of the history of colonization in Canada.

"Trauma as Medicine" has been met with positive reviews:

”This book is truly a revelation. Through her living example, Sarah has demonstrated that

nothing—truly nothing—is “too big” or “too hard” or “too anything” to fully heal and

reconcile. If you are willing to go into this place of possibility with Sarah as your guide, this

book can and will change your life.”

By mindfully melding the personal and the professional of what shared humanity can mean

when tragedy befalls us, Sarah Salter-Kelly offers hope, healing, and powerful medicine in

this rich and thoughtful book.
