Stoney Nakoda RCMP have laid charges in a flight from the police investigation.  

On May 15, RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle that subsequently fled from police and was later located at a nearby residence at Mini Thni, Alberta.  

Three individuals fled from the vehicle to the residence at which time RCMP secured the area and obtained judicial authorization to enter the home. With the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services and Cochrane Detachment officers, three suspects were taken into custody. Further investigation led to the discovery of a weapon, substances believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. 

Butch Holloway aged 27, Dale Waskewitch aged 35, and Davina Rider aged 41, all of Mini’ Thni, Alberta, have been charged with: 

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking  

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon 

  • Obstruction 

 Holloway was also charged with: 

  • Fail to comply with conditions of a release order on two counts. 

 Rider was additionally charged with: 

  • Flight from police        

  • Refusal to provide a breath sample 

  • Possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle 

  • Fail to comply with conditions of a release order 

  • And charges under the Traffic Safety Act. 

All three of the accused will appear at Cochrane Provincial Court on May 24, 2022. Holloway and Waskewitch were conditionally released and Rider was remanded into custody.
