This week 100 Kids Who Care will come together with unwrapped toys/gift certificates to support other kids in the community.

The youth will contribute to the Share Your Christmas campaign hosted by the Cochrane Acitivettes which helps ensure local families have a great Christmas morning even if they are struggling.

Co-organizer Lori Toma shares the Cochrane chapter is excited to get them involved in such a great cause. "Giving back is one of life's essential skills. We do our best at home to instill the values of caring for others, thinking of our neighbours and helping each other out, but it's not always enough."

This past year, the future community leaders have donated to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society (twice) and helped at both spring and fall Helping Hands Food Drives. Toma hopes by joining 100 Kids, the kids will see not only what the community has to offer but also where help is needed. "It's easy to get caught up in home and school life when you're young but the opportunity to see your community as a whole is one that shouldn't be passed up."

In December 2016, close to 50 youth came to the inaugural meeting of 100 Kids who also donated to the Share Your Christmas campaign. That year, the Activettes handed out hampers which benefitted over 700 people equating to 207 families during the holiday season.

Getting kids involved early in the community is something both 100 Kids organizers are passionate about. "Teaching kindness at an early age has great impact. Kids of all ages are impressionable and starting those important life lessons at an early age invites inquiry and creates a strong foundation for social growth and development. By starting these habits young, we're giving our children the tools they need to grow into kind youth/teens/young adults."

If you have a youth that would like to attend, 100 Kids Who Care meets this Thursday evening (November 30) at 6:30 pm at Three Beasts Indoor Playground. Toma suggests RSVPing here, wear socks, and if new fill out a waiver to play at Three Beasts prior to coming.

100 Kids meets roughly 4 times a years combining both volunteer and donation opportunities.
