Albertans will continue to fair a bit better than the rest of the country at the pumps for a little bit longer.

It has been announced that the 13 cents per litre provincial fuel tax on gas and diesel will be extended until September.

The provincial government announced the extension of the fuel tax relief which has been in effect since April of this year.

The program will be re-evaluated in the fall.

Premier Jason Kenney says, "We’re helping Albertans save money through the fuel tax relief program at a time of need. While fuel prices have continued to increase nationwide, Albertans still pay considerably less than their provincial neighbours. We’re pleased to extend this important relief measure until the end of September.”

Other provinces are already seeing prices over the $2 per litre mark with the possibility of prices going higher over the summer.
