The current challenging economy will ensure a popular community event will be appreciated more than ever this year.

The annual Jacket Racket Event is coming up and this year it takes place on Saturday, October 29 between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cochrane Alliance Church on Glenbow Drive.  At that time, gently used winter clothing will be available to people who need warm winter clothing.

Donations of clean gently used winter wear for all ages and sizes are now being accepted until October 26. Items such as hats, scarves, mitts, gloves, snowsuits, and boots are also greatly appreciated.

Due to the event’s close proximity to Halloween costumes are collected too.

Kathleen Dennis, Family Support Worker with the Family Resource Network says, ”It is an opportunity for the community of Cochrane to go through their closet and clean it out. We have always had really strong support from the community, and we are really grateful for that.”

Drop-off bins can be found at Bow Valley Credit Union, BGC Cochrane, Cochrane Alliance Church, FCSS, Family Resource Network (FRN), RancheHouse, and Safeway Cochrane.
