The Rocky Mountain Rotary Club of Cochrane's third annual Toys 4 Kids campaign has begun.

The initiative supports local Cochrane families that are in need during the holiday season.

Nicole Kimpton, secretary with the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club says nominations are already coming in.

"You can nominate a family that's in need or is coming up on hard times this year, as we all know Christmas is one of the hardest times of the year. The other way you can help, is by bringing in a donation."

There will be a truck parked at Cochrane Light Up on November 25th with the intent to fill it with donations.

You can also drop off donations at Spray Lakes Sawmills Centre or at Cochrane Toyota.

"New, unwrapped toys. That way once we have all of the families nominated we can select the toys that have been donated and give them to the families that may have requested specific toys, so kind of making some dreams come true for Christmas. Gift cards for groceries are also a good."

Last year they delivered gifts to 14 local families, the previous year they helped seven families.

The Cochrane Ringette Association helps to purchase the toys with the donation money.

"The community has been so amazing. The Cochrane Ringette Association puts up a bin during their tournament and they've been such a big proponent in helping and some of the girls help to do the deliveries." says Kimpton.

Donations will be accepted until December 17th, with the gifts being delivered to families on December 19th.
