A man from Mini’ Thni, Alta is in custody after a traffic infraction lead to the discovery of numerous warrants and a substance on May 17.

The driver attempted to run from a Stoney Nakoda RCMP officer and was later arrested. Several warrants from Cochrane and Calgary had been issued for his arrest and he had a substance believed to be methamphetamine in his possession.

Mitchell Lefthand (32) of Mini’ Thni, Alta., has been charged with several offenses including:

  • Resisting arrest.
  • Possession of a controlled substance.
  • Fail to comply with conditions of a release order.
  • Charges under the Traffic Safety Act.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Lefthand was remanded into custody. His next appearance in Canmore Provincial Court is set for today (May 18, 2022) and dates have been set for his warrants from the Calgary and Cochrane area.
