Alberta's own Ashley Ghostkeeper has been making quite the name for herself over the past year. The singer/songwriter/paramedic/hockey player has no plans on slowing down.

"I've been taking as many of the opportunities coming to me and just going with it," she explains. "I'm really grateful for all of them."

Ghostkeeper grew up in Red Deer and now calls Calgary home, but she is no stranger to Cochrane.

"I lived and did two years of junior hockey here so I know the town pretty well."

"It was super amazing living here. Kind of that small town vibe but the city is right there. The mountains are right there to go snowboarding. I had a great time and I really loved the town and the people are so nice."

Her sound has been described as a mix of Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. Her music career is taking another step forward as she opens up for Alee tonight at the Prairie Emporium in Calgary.

"This opportunity really shocked me because I've been a huge fan of Alee since I was young in high school. I'd listen to her songs on the radio and to think that I'm opening for it was like, wow, like, Is this happening?"
