Cochrane RCMP is reminding area residents to still keep an eye out for 56-year-old Johnny Kootenay.

Johnny has not been seen or heard from since December 11, which is relatively concerning to Cochrane RCMP.

Constable Kary Moore says this case is tricky because while they are concerned he has been known to disappear off the radar before. "It is and it isn't (concerning), he has been known to go for a month at a time. It's just tricky when they're transient. We can't just say he'll show up eventually we don't have that luxury. We have to actively still look for him."

The RCMP are still following up on a number of tips but those leads have all come up negative thus far; starting to now branch out Cst.Moore is hopeful they hear news. "We start to branch out our media releases and go into BC and hit a few other contacts just to spread out the word."

Moore adds Johnny is not in any trouble, they just want to make sure he is safe and sound, as it is unusual for him to not have any family contact.

56-year-old Johnny Kootenay is described as a native mail, 5'6", 160 pounds with acne scars on his face.

If you have seen Kootenay or know of his whereabouts contact any detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
