Not only will you see a lot of your friends and neighbours this Saturday during Cochrane Light Up, you'll also get to meet Cochrane's new mayor and town council during the festivities.

Mayor Jeff Genung and town councillors Susan Flowers, Tara McFadden, Morgan Nagel, Alex Reed and Patrick Wilson will be serving hot dogs at the town's fire pot. Marni Fedeyko is organizing the event so her role will be slightly different.

The new council welcomes the opportunity to meet with residents and talk about community issues with them.

People attending Cochrane's unofficial kick off to the Christmas season also have the chance to win a gift of Cochrane Dollars by selecting a gift envelope during Light Up.

Prizes include vouchers for C$1, C$2, C$5 and C$10 which will be available while supplies last.

A variety of Cochrane retailers are participating in a special Christmas shopping campaign using Cochrane Dollars which can also be purchased at the ATB Cochrane branch.

Light Up is one of Cochrane's most popular annual events and runs this Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 pm on Historic Main Street.  The event is entirely run by volunteers.
