Christian music lovers will flock to Cochrane this weekend as they get ready for the No Greater Love Music (NGL) Festival.

Attendees from across Canada are expected at this weekend's (August 11 and 12) music festival which is anticipated to draw 5000+ concert goers.

Tammy Love, one of the Executive Producers of the No Greater Love Music Festival, says this is the festival's third year and it not only offers great music but so much more. "One of the things we are really excited about is there is such an atmosphere for families to come out and celebrate. We have a kid's kingdom on site and there is really something for everyone, not just the music, there is lots of stuff to do and see."

The Canadian Baptist Seminary College Grounds will be home to the NGL fest this year, which Love is thrilled about. After being hosted at the Good Stoney Rodeo Grounds in Morley the last two years, Love shares the idea of a partnership with the Seminary seemed like an ideal fit. While the picturesque backdrop of the Morley grounds will be missed, being closer to town will be a benefit. "One of our challenges with being out there was we were really far out and remote and so we really looked at that and weighed out our options and we really felt this was the best move for us."

As a Cochrane resident herself, Love, feels No Greater Love offers an incredible opportunity for our entire community as it is considered the biggest Christian music festival country-wide. "We are the only one, of its kind, across Canada and we are really excited to have it right here in our own backyard. We have people that come from all over. Last year we had people come from the Yukon and as a far away as Montreal so people are travelling to come to this and making it their destination for summer."

You don't need to be part of any particular religious denomination, says Love, music is music and enjoyed by all. "We are a Christian festival but we have a lot of people in the field that don't have any kind of faith background as well. They simply come out and enjoy the atmosphere and the musicians and talent."

While this year's event does not include a headliner as big as last year's Reba McEntire, it will be equally as good, shares Love. "This year on Saturday night we have Big Daddy Weave who is a big name in the Christian music industry and we also have some staples like Tenth Avenue North who have been here for the past three years and absolutely loves coming to this area."

The No Greater Love Music Festival kicks off at 11:45 Saturday morning with the last act taking the stage at 9:45 p.m. while Sunday begins at 11:30 with last act at 9:35 at night. If you would like to purchase tickets, you are encouraged to do so online HERE or at the gate. A shuttle service will be available from the Cochrane AG grounds to hopefully mitigate any traffic concerns surrounding parking at the Seminary. "We are trying to mitigate and keep everyone happy as much as we can because we want to see this as a long-term thing."
