Multiple hardworking, community-minded organizations will be receiving funds to support their initiatives in the town of Cochrane. 

On February 27, 2023, Cochrane town council unanimously voted to approve grant funding recommendations from the Cochrane FCSS Advisory Board. 

For 2023, Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) budgeted $20,000 in grant funds and the Calgary and Area United Way contributed $61,532 for a total of $81,532 being distributed between nine local organizations which included:

  •  Cochrane and Area Victim Service: $9,500.00
  •  Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee: $9,500.00
  •  Cochrane Society For Housing Options: $10,000.00
  •  Cochrane Women’s Emergency Shelter Society [Big Hill Haven]: $3,000.00
  •  Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area: $22,000.00
  •  Cochrane Public Library: $3,000.00
  •  Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta: $6,957.00
  •  Variety - The Children’s Charity of Alberta Association: $3,575.00
  •  Seniors for Kids Society: $14,000.00

Cochrane FCSS and the United Way work together on grant reviews to streamline the application process and then make recommendations to town council. 

It is part of the United Way agreement with the Town of Cochrane that includes the provision that council approves the allocation of the United Way funds.
