Giving back to the community is something that Gord Bamford has built his brand on.

The Canadian country music star says he can't wait to come back to perform for a Cochrane crowd.

He's been on the road and been in more than 100 communities with his Canadian Dirt Tour but he added a few more stops, including Cochrane.

The Lacombe native says it's always a great feeling knowing that he's entertaining the crowd and giving back to the community.

"It feels really good when you finish a show and everybody's had a great time, they gotta take the next day off but at the same time the community has really won from it. When you can go into places and put on a show that they love and at the same time give back to them, it just kind of all makes sense."

"A lot of these events that we play in these small towns are created to help raise dollars for the communities and I think the run that we just did raised over half a million dollars for these towns. So that for me is a big thing, and it's a win-win. I get to go to work and do what I love every day and also support what's going on in these small towns and communities to help give back. That's kind of what I built my brand on and what I really enjoy."

If you saw Bamford perform the last time he was in town in 2022, you know that you'll be singing along to every song.

"I pretty much stick to the hit songs and songs if you're a country fan, then you know. We don't try to do too much outside of that. As a fan of music I always get frustrated when I go watch a show and they don't play the songs that are their hits and the songs that you know, and they just stand up there and play a bunch of new stuff, that's not what the fans want."

Gord Bamford will play at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Friday, April 5.
