The Big Hill Haven was founded in 2016 in order to address the lack of safe shelter and resources for women fleeing or living with domestic violence in Cochrane and area.

Tara McFadden is the new Fund Development and Public Relations Officer for the organization and she says, "Excellent work has been done to raise awareness of the need and to provide services to women and children dealing with domestic violence in Cochrane and area.  The next step is to raise the $1.5 million needed to begin planned construction by 2021."

In order for the project to qualify for federal and provincial grants, the organization must have $500,000 or land committed to the project. Through 2020, the organization will be raising funds for the planning development of a women's shelter in Cochrane.

Currently, Big Hill Haven is raising funds by selling a "Hope Is Powerful" 2020 Cochrane Women's Emergency Shelter Calendar which will be selling for $30 with the proceeds going Big Hill Haven.

You can purchase the calendar through the organization.
