Organizers of the Kids Bike Safety Day have been forced to cancel this Saturday's event due to low registration.

Set to enter its fourth year, it was a sold-out affair the first two years before numbers started to dwindle slightly last year.

They aren't sure if it's the day, the location or how it's presented, but believe there is still a need and are welcoming feedback and ideas from residents.

"We thought, OK, has it run its life, but there are so many new people coming into Cochrane, that I've got to believe there are still lots of families out there with kids that age that would have enjoyed going to something like this," says Cochrane Kiwanis president Debbie White.

Typically, it has been held at the end of May and this year was set to run the day before Footstock.

"If you have ideas for something you would like to see in a bike safety related event for kids, we'd love them to hear them," says White.

She welcomes emails at chair@cochranekiwanis.com.

Sponsors and participants have been advised of the cancellation.
