It was a busy morning for Cochrane RCMP on January 16 as they received four complaints of vehicle theft between 7:20-8:30 am.

Three of the four stolen vehicles were reported to have the keys near or in them. Two vehicles were stolen at some point over night while the other two were stolen while warming up this morning.

The first stolen vehicle is a 2016 blue Chevrolet Silverado with 'Bugaboo Landscaping' decal on the side with AB plate BVS 3075.

The second a 2007 burgundy Honda Ridgeline with matching topper taken from the community of Bow Meadows with licence plate BDP 7681.

West Pointe was the next community to be hit up where a 2010 silver Hyundai Santa Fe with licence plate BKM 2117 was stolen, and lastly a 2010 white Ford F150 with AB plate BVP 1623 went missing from Jumping Pound.

Cochrane RCMP Corporal Bethany Hoskin says residents have to be aware suspects will take any opportunity to steal vehicles as they are valuable and easy to turn over for quick money. Since the beginning of 2017, eight vehicles have been stolen in Cochrane. Of the 8 stolen, 6 of the vehicles were left unattended while running and unlocked.

"Some of them are crimes of opportunity and some are people who are actually out looking for vehicles to steal."

Cpl. Hoskin says that residents can take very easy steps to to safeguard their property.

"People have to stop leaving keys in ignition and leaving the vehicle unlocked. If people could take care of those things we would see a sharp drop in these thefts."

Cochrane RCMP are asking for public assistance involving these vehicle thefts. If you have any information you are asked to contact the Cochrane detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
