The trophy case of the senior girls Bow Valley Bobcats basketball team continues to fill up after their fourth tournament win of the season over the weekend.

What made it especially sweet for the top team in Rocky View high school play was successfully defended their title at the Calgary Crescent Height High School tournament.

The Bobcats set the tone for the weekend by grabbing a 25-1 first-quarter lead in their first game against Lord Beaverbrook.

"I think that set the tone for the entire weekend," says head coach Kris Nielson. "So we fed off that energy, that kind of positivity, and we were able to pull it right through the very end."

The team went on to win that game 60-30, then beat M. E. Lazerte 63-39 to earn a berth into the 'A' final.

They beat the Crescent Height Cowboys, 52-42, in a tough, scrappy championship game in front of the home school's fans.

"We had a really good weekend. We executed well, we finished well, we defended well, and to put that kind of effort together is a significant reward to have the win at the end."

Jorja Powers, Mikaela Murphy, and Natasha Boisvenue were all named as tournament all-stars. Sadie Nielson was the tournament MVP.

All of the Bobcats competing in three skills competitions that accompanied the tournament. Bobcats Jorja Powers and Sadie Nielson both won their respective three-point shooting contests.

The Bobcats won't be seeing any action in Rocky View play until they enter the semifinals on Mar. 5. They finished first with a 6-0 record. They have a bye in the last week of regular season play and are on the sidelines for the quarterfinals.

Nielson says they'll be hitting the courts against some stiff competition to keep sharp for the playoffs.

"We're going to line up some games with the best teams that we can to really push us and see where we're at so that we're prepared and ready for what to expect in playoffs.

The Bobcats also finished first in Rocky View play last season.
