On Friday night, you can come out and support the Cochrane Generals and food bank at the same time

The Cochrane Generals are determined to grab two points against the Red Deer Vipers, but they're also lacing up to score a win for the Cochrane Activettes in the team's annual Food Bank Game.

When you bring a nonperishable food donation, the cost of admission is cut in half to $5 for adults. It's free for youth and seniors.

MacLure says the larger the crowd, the more food they'll be able to collect for the local food bank.

If you haven't caught a game yet this season, this is a great starting point. Twenty-one games into the season, the Gens are first in the north, and among the teams attempting to take them down a notch are the Vipers. Red Deer is currently five points behind the Gens with two games in hand.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. in the Cochrane Arena.
