The inaugural country musical festival set to go in Cochrane this summer will feature two powerhouse Canadian country music acts.

Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) winning duo, Doc Walker and Double platinum-certified country music singer Aaron Goodvin will headline the two-day show in July.

Doc Walker will headline the Friday night show and Aaron Goodvin will headline Saturday evening.

Festival organizer, Kailey Mitchell with Quirk Social says they worked hard to make sure the lineup was the right fit for the audience.

"We wanted to make sure that we were bringing the best show to Cochrane that we possibly could for the first year, so we're really looking forward to that. We're super excited for the locals that are coming as well, names that people will know, having seen them around before. It's going to be a really awesome weekend."

Mitchell says they're currently finalizing the supporting acts and will announce the rest of the lineup soon.

With the lineup announcement, we now know the name of the festival as well.

Mitchell says they had over 125 entries in their naming contest and Bow Valley Boot Stomp came out on top.

"I love the boot stomp part because it really makes you think about tapping your feet with your boots on, and how fun, and the energy that comes with that. So we're super excited."

The festival will be at the Cochrane & District AG Society grounds on July 19 and 20.

Tickets will go on sale on February 1 and Mitchell says they're expecting upwards of 3000 people.
