This past Saturday, March 2, Jensen Ranch Rescue hosted its first-ever fundraiser at Half Hitch Brewing company. The event was a success raising over $32,000 to help horses in need.

"This is the inaugural, but we now will start calling it the annual fundraiser, we will absolutely do this again every year" said co-founder Kendra Watt.

The goal for the money is to continue rescuing horses and rehoming them, and to improve their care facilities.

"The biggest thing is this type of animal rescue group that doesn't really exist in this area, and we started this to fill the gap because there is lots of awesome horse rescue organizations throughout the western provinces, but there was a gap...I think a lot of horse lovers are glad to see it" explained Watt.

Watt said for next years event they will need a bigger venue, as they underestimated just how much support they would receive.

Money is still being counted from the event and donations are still being accepting on their website.
