The Cochrane Activettes are hoping community members can dig a little deeper this holiday season.

Hamper requests are on par with 2015 but Connie Craig, Cochrane Activettes, Secretary, says donations are down slightly.

"Right now we have talked to 91 families, our cash donations seem to be down a little bit this year than they were this time last year."

The Activettes do not give cash in hampers, however, they rely on that money to help buy gift cards from local grocers for families in need.

"Depending on how much money we get, will depend on what the dollar denomination that the families get. Typically it's $25 a person up to six people in the family, but like I said a lot of that depends on how much money we have to spend."

To try to gain more donations, Craig has made up additional boxes for businesses who wish to help collect.

"We are hoping the Town of Cochrane can dig deep, as deep as they can, but we realize too that a lot of people from Cochrane are having financial problems as well, and we can only do what we can do."

The food bank is low on hand soap, toothpaste, cereal, juice and is always in need of protein based meals like chili, stews, and chunky soup.

If you are in need of a Christmas Hamper, the Cochrane Activettes ensure 100% confidentiality. You must request a hamper yourself and can do so at 403-813-3384.
