Nearly 50 youth escaped injury during a bus fire in Banff National Park yesterday. 

Lake Louise RCMP were called out to the Ice Field Parkway after getting a report of a tour bus fire. 

According to Mounties there were approximately 60 stranded bus passengers on the scene, 48 of them youth who were part of an international school ski trip from Tonbridge, UK.

Fire crews, EMS and Parks Canada aided police and confirmed that there were no injuries. 

"A local business, “The Lodge at Bow Lake”, accommodated all passengers for a temporary shelter until the bus company could send another bus to have their passengers reach their destination." stated the RCMP.  

Police believe the cause of the fire was mechanical in nature.
