The On-Demand Local Transit (COLT) system launched on Oct. 7 and in the first two months they saw over 8500 riders and Cochranites were able to try out the service for free but as of Jan. 1 there will be a fee.

A single one-way fare will cost $2.50. You will have the opportunity to purchase monthly passes or a ten-pack. Children four and under ride for free. There are also reduced rates for seniors and students.

Deb Maxwell, FCSS Community Programmer with the Town of Cochrane says there are several places around town to pick up tickets.

Maxwell says "the tickets are available at the Cochrane administration building which is the Ranchehouse. Also at Cochrane FCSS, which is the blue building downtown tickets are available there. You can also get passes at the Cochrane Library and Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre."

You can download the user-friendly App which has been the popular choice for most users.

Maxwell says "If you go onto the App and make an account that is a way to order a bus to come to you or to find out more information."

She says there have been quite a number of people who are choosing to leave their vehicles at home and take COLT instead.

Maxwell says " Especially on a bad weather day. I do know some people that have ordered it the day before just knowing that they don't have to drive their car if they didn't have winter tires, if their car didn't start it's an option."

The App can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play or by following the links from ridecolt.ca.
