Cochrane RCMP have a received a complaint from a parent who's children's Halloween treats included tampered chocolate bars from the area of GlenEagles.

RCMP say the complainant had been checking their children's Halloween treats when it was discovered that two full size chocolate bars, O'Henry and Kit Kat, had sewing needles placed in them.

Cochrane Constable Jennifer Brewer says they are trying to narrow down exactly where the candy came from in GlenEagles.

"It was near the lower level of the golf course, but the golf course is quite large so we still can't narrow it down. We are having a hard time narrowing down the location."

RCMP are encouraging all parents to be diligent in checking their child's treats and not taking any chances.

"Be very, very diligent. Thankfully this was a very diligent parent, even if you are an older child, when in doubt don't. Even if the seal just came undone, don't take a chance with your health, just throw it away."

RCMP say matters like this are taken very seriously. If you find anything suspicious in your child's bag or also received a tampered bar, you are asked to call the Cochrane detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to assist in the investigation.
