Route 22 will be showcasing local Indigenous artists art over the next week as part of Indigenous Arts and Culture Week.

They have been provided art from the father-daughter duo of Dennis and Daisynae Labelle, which will be available to purchase at the showcase. All money earned goes right back to the artists.

Executive Director of Route 22, Lara Kruger said it is part of the galleries mandate to be an inclusive space that is fostering truth and reconciliation.

"It's actually the very first formal opening that we've had at Route 22 for an exhibition, so we're pretty excited to be hosting this one by a couple of local Indigenous artists. Said Kruger 'It's also the first exhibition of Indigenous art that we've had in the space. So it's going to be exciting and awesome."

The event will run from March 16 to the 23.

It is in collaboration with the opening of the Wazin Ichinabi House.

This event will kickoff their calendar for multiple exhibition events this year. More information on that and Route 22 is on their website.
