You can set your watch by it.

When the time draws near, people head to the outdoor arena of the Cochrane Ag Society to to settle into a spot for one of the most popular family events of the Cochrane Fair.

Mutton bustin' is back to offer thrills and spills. This year, there are five slots, two on Friday and three on Saturday. It's free, but advance sign-up is required.

"Mutton bustin' is back because that's a huge hit for the kids and parents, more so the parents than the kids, but it's lots of fun to watch," says Cochrane Fair chair Leslie Hunt. "Some of those little guys are basically future bronc riders and bull riders because they make it all the way to the middle and they stay on even after they've finished the ride. It's quite the entertainment."

Children must weigh under 60 lbs and be under the age of seven. Helmets are mandatory, whether it be riding, cycling, or hockey helmets.

Something for the older kids is the Goat Scramble. Ten goats are placed in the arena and the goal of the participant is to remove a tie from their tail.

"Goats are a little feisty, so they have to be well-fit and going for that," says Hunt.

There are three age groups: 8-9, 10-11, and 12-year-olds.

There's also a chance to preregister for the stick pony, sac, and wheelbarrow races.
