A traffic stop that was initiated on a suspicious vehicle in Morley has led to the arrest of three individuals and numerous charges laid.

At approximately 2 am on January 28, 2021, Stoney Nakoda RCMP attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle they believed to be suspicious in nature.

Corporal Susan Richter with the Cochrane RCMP says that the vehicle fled and was located a short time later.

"The vehicle did not stop and took off and a pursuit was not declared," says Richter. "A short time later the vehicle was located, all occupants were still in the vehicle and the investigation proceeded from there."

The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested.  Richter says that during the investigation, a number of weapons, drugs, and identification documents were seized.

"Some of the property obtained by crime were cheques that we recovered and identification cards that were known to be stolen and belonged to other people and not anyone in the vehicle," says Richter.  "The weapons included a replica handgun and some animal repellant, there were also knives and ammunition."

Thirty-five-year-old Aldina Snow, 44-year-old Gertrude Wesley and 20-year-old Jacob Wesley all of Morley, have been charged with over thirty offences in total, including:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x6)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle (x4)
  • Identity fraud (x4)
  • Possession of controlled substances (x5)
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Flight from police

Richter says that all three individuals have been charged and will be appearing in Cochrane Provincial at a later date.

"They were all brought before a judicial interim release hearing," says Richter. "The two females were remanded into custody and have court on Tuesday, February 2. The male was released on a release order with conditions and he is appearing in court, I believe it's on February 16."
