Veteran Hunters have teamed up with the Veterans Food Bank of Alberta to host a fundraising golf tournament that promises to be plenty of fun.

Todd Hisey, Veterans Hunters founder and executive director, says the two nonprofits have worked together on other projects but this is their first golf tournament.

He says the tournament is aptly named "Feeding the Body, Healing the Mind" and is being held on July 17 at the Water Valley Golf Club.

"A lot of the programs the Veterans Food Bank of Alberta do feed the body, and at Veteran Hunters, we're all about healing the mind, so the two go hand-in-hand."

The goal is to raise $40,000 and collect a truck load of nonperishable food. He says a pickup truck will be parked at the golf club about a week in advance, so others can help fill it.

One of the unique features of the best ball tournament is a chance to have your golf ball launched to the tee with an air cannon.

There are also some incredible auction items, including a South African hunt for four and a fully guided fly-fishing trip in the Calgary area. Several other items are being released weekly for advance bidding.

Registration is now open and further sponsorships are sought for the fundraiser.
