There are many extras at the Water Valley Christmas Market that continue to make it a popular destination for families this Saturday, Nov. 25.

The annual event includes plenty of vendors, horse-drawn sleigh rides, music, kids' crafts and, yes, Jolly Ol' St. Nick himself will be there to help charge the Christmas spirit.

It is being held in the heart of Water Valley, 46 km north of Cochrane just off Hwy. 22 on Hwy. 579. Coordinator Dawn Lashmar says the market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"People come from all over the place, so we're really excited, and we have a variety of super vendors, so we're really looking forward to this weekend."

The day wraps up with their Winter Social from 4:40 to 6:30 p.m.

"There's fireworks with firepits, music, s'mores, and spirits, and we hope the fireworks will go off around 6:30," she says.

Youth can whisper their deepest wishes to Santa and have their photo taken with him from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Water Valley Arts and Wellness Building.

"Santa is pumped about coming. He's so excited that we're doing it with donations to the Mountainview Food Bank, so bring a couple of bucks for the food bank or some food, and we'll collect it and get it to those in need this Christmas."

They'll also be able to enjoy hot chocolate and crafts there.

The event has been a Water Valley tradition for over 10 years.
