The Cochrane Sport Network is hosting a free evening with Cochrane sports icons that were recently inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.

On Nov. 23 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Dr. David Legg, multisport/paralympic sport builder award recipient, and Rob McNab and Bruce O'Neil, achievement award recipients, will be sharing their stories. The event is being held at the SLS Family Sports Centre, 800 Griffin Rd. E.

Lea Wiens, executive director of Sports4Life Cochrane (S4LC), says the sports network had been deciding upon the topic of their next meeting when the opportunity arose.

"The timing seems really good and it's pretty special to have three local residents inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, so we decided it was a really great fit and then we reached out to them and they all immediately said yes."

The network's meetings aren't typically open to the general public but they believed this is something the entire community would enjoy.

"If anybody wants to hear more or if they've been following either Dr. David Legg or Robbie McNab and Bruce O'Neil in their careers, they can come and celebrate it in person. We're really excited about it and I think it will be a great community event."
