The programs and activities of the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC) got a shot in the arm, thanks to a dinner/silent auction fundraiser on May 22.

"It was a blast," says CISC president Kristina Kindree. "It was really fun and we had a lot of people who came to the restaurant and others who did takeout."

Proceeds from the 53 items in their silent auction certainly helped.

"The money that we raised definitely will help with all the activities we do. Most of that will go towards organizing the Culture Fest in September."

Guest speaker was Bukola Ojemakinde, executive director of both the Ladies in the Foundation and Bridge to Oasis Foundation.

"Her insights and experiences promise to inspire and ignite our hearts with hope," says Paul Singh, who attended the event and is active in CISC.

Planning is already underway for this fall's Culture Fest. Twenty cultures were represented last fall in the largest event yet.
