The Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre continues to be a reliable source of support for local women dealing with unexpected pregnancies.

The local non-profit is hosting a fun family event this weekend to help raise funds.

Spokesperson Ellen Covey said they would love to see young families come out to their Family Fun Day to enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle, silent auction and a concession stand.

"Probably more for the kids who would enjoy a bounce in the castle and enjoy watching a film. You don't have to watch the movie, you can just run around and play in the bouncy castle if you want to. It's definitely geared towards families and all in support of the wonderful work that the pregnancy care centre does."

The Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre has been supporting local residents for more than 30 years and Covey said they support any woman who is experiencing an unexpected pregnancy.

"It could be any age, any marital situation, anything at all. If people just want a little bit of support then the pregnancy care centre is there. They have outreach, they have great counselling, they have a store that you can shop in if you're a new mom."

The centre offers a wide variety of services for all mothers.

More than 380 clients received support services from the centre in 2023.

Bidding is currently open on items in the spring silent auction on Facebook.

"We'll close it out that morning and people can pick up their items right at the Family Fun Day at the Alliance Church at around noon. Or anyone who can't make it can pick it up at the Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre."

The Family Fun Day will go on Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cochrane Alliance Church.

Admission is by donation and tickets can be purchased at the event.
